For Plan Sponsors, Recordkeepers & TPAs

The Directed Trustee for Rabbi Trusts

AET is the independent trustee that plan sponsors, recordkeepers, and TPAs name in their rabbi trust agreements. We hold the trust, custody the assets, execute the payment schedule, and produce the tax forms. Our only role in the plan is trustee.

Rabbi trust administration and directed trustee services

How It Works

Open the Trust

Open the trust through our API or portals, as a new appointment or a successor trustee transition.

Compliance Built In

We run AML/KYC, identity, and sanctions screening on every account.

Administer & Report

We execute payment schedules and handle statements, Form 1041, and audit trails.

What a Rabbi Trustee Does

A rabbi trust puts deferred compensation behind an independent trustee while keeping the assets reachable by the employer's creditors. AET serves as directed trustee.

Hold Plan Assets
We custody trust assets subject to the sponsor's general creditors.
Execute the Payment Schedule
Distributions run on the sponsor's schedule.
Trust-Level Tax Reporting
We file Form 1041 at the trust's EIN. W-2, FICA, and 1099 reporting stays with the employer.

An API and Portals Built to Move Volume

Embed trust creation and administration directly into your recordkeeping platform through our API, or use our Business and Investor portals out of the box. Open trusts, process contributions and distributions, and pull reporting programmatically.

  • RESTful API, sandbox, and docs
  • Business Portal for sponsors, recordkeepers, and TPAs
  • Contribution and distribution processing
  • Automated KYC/AML on every account
  • E-signature and document workflows
  • On-demand reporting, tax forms, audit trails

Trustee Only

Most rabbi trustees share a corporate parent with an NQDC recordkeeping business. AET has no recordkeeping business, does not act as a plan administrator and works only as a trustee in NQDC plans.

No Recordkeeping, No Plan Design
We don't compete with your recordkeeper or consultant. We deliver pure directed trustee services for NQDC plans.
Directed, Not Discretionary
The sponsor or its investment manager directs investments. No proprietary funds, no revenue share on the lineup.
Assets Beyond the Fund Menu
We support COLI, closely held business stock, real estate, and other alternatives inside the trust.

Built to Handle Your Plan Volume

One trustee across every nonqualified structure your plans touch.

  • Rabbi trusts for 409A NQDC plans
  • SERPs and excess benefit plans
  • 457(b) and 457(f) plans for tax-exempt employers
  • Director and non-employee deferral plans

Why Recordkeepers and Sponsors Choose AET

The incumbent trust banks built for institutional RFPs, and most share a parent with a recordkeeping business. That leaves recordkeepers who need a trustee partner, and sponsors who want a simple flat-fee trusteeship, without an obvious place to go.

Independent by Structure
We have no recordkeeping affiliate, insurance carrier, or fund family. Nothing in our structure competes with your business or steers the sponsor.
Built for Plan Volume
A modern, API-first stack that opens and administers trusts inside your platform's flow.
Nevada Jurisdiction
No state income tax on trust income, strong asset protection, 365-year dynasty trusts, a modern directed-trust statute.
Work Directly With Our Team
High-touch service for onboarding, distributions, and ongoing support.
